CRI co-sponsors 2008 Employment Law Seminar on March 20

BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State University Center for Research and Innovation is a co-sponsor of the 2008 Employment Law Seminar scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the Hampton Inn, 1019 Paul Bunyan Dr. S., Bemidji, Minn.

The day-long session will provide current employment law information in the topic areas of hiring processes; wage and hour issues; workplace issues; safety, health and environmental issues; termination processes and workers compensation.

Registrations may be made with credit cards by calling Central Lakes College, Brainerd, Minn. at (218) 855-8142 or toll free; (800) 933-0346, Ext. 8142. The registration fee is $75 per person and includes coffee, rolls and lunch. A $10 discount is available to members of sponsoring organizations. Paid, advance registration is required by March 7.

Presenting will be Nancy B. Vollertsen, a member of Lindquist & Vennum’s Employee Benefits, Executive Compensation & Employment Law Practice Group. She practices primarily in the area of labor and employment law and also has comprehensive knowledge of school and local government law. She is a frequent speaker on substantive employment issues throughout the country and co-authored “An Employer’s Guide to Employment Law Issues in Minnesota.”

Co-sponsors joining the CRI in conducting the seminar are Lakes Area Human Resource Association, Lake Country Human Resource Association, Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce, Bemidji Chamber of Commerce, Little Falls Chamber of Commerce, Central Lakes College, DEED WorkForce Center, Job Service Employer Committee, Lakes Area Safety & Health Organization and the Small Business Development Center.
