Registration remains open for the 2013 Dream It, Do It Robotics Summer Camp, June 23-28, at Bemidji State University.<\/p>\n
The camp, sponsored by the 360° Manufacturing and Applied Engineering ATE Center of Excellence<\/i><\/a>, is designed for students in grades 7-12, and especially for those with a passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.<\/p>\n The camp carries a registration fee of $300, which is due in full by the Tuesday, June 4, registration deadline. The fee includes lodging in BSU’s Tamarack Hall, food and all activities planned by camp staff. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the camp is full.<\/p>\n VEX Robotics provides a vehicle for students to develop critical life skills such as teamwork, leadership and project management, honed by building robots and competing with like-minded students from the community in an exciting and non-traditional environment. Students work in teams to create, design and build their own robots.<\/p>\n Each day will consist of a different challenge used to create a robot. Campers will design and build a robot, learn autonomous programming and how to program their robot using sensor inputs and quadrapture encoders. The camp concludes with a mini-challenge on Friday that family members are invited to attend.<\/p>\n Campers will also have a chance to learn the new game, “Toss Up,” for the 2013-2014 VEX Robotics competitions. Toss Up’s scoring objects include four large balls and 10 Bucky Balls for each team. \n360° is a collaborative effort that seeks to address the dynamic, evolving needs of Minnesota manufacturers. As a Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Center of Excellence and an ATE Regional Center, 360° has joined forces with education and industry partners to answer Minnesota’s need to attract, prepare and empower the next generation of highly skilled workers. 360° offers access to more than 60 specialized programs, ranging from certificates to master’s degrees. These programs provide the education needed to enrich skills and advance careers.<\/p>\n
\nLaunched by The Manufacturing Institute, Dream It Do It is a grassroots authority on influencing the perception of manufacturing careers by leveraging local, regional and statewide strategic partnerships to attract and recruit a qualified manufacturing workforce pipeline. The program offers local manufacturers, schools, community-based organizations and other stakeholders the opportunity to partner with a respected national organization to promote manufacturing as a top-tier career choice in the United States.<\/p>\n
