This year, 44 incoming and returning Bemidji State University students of all disciplines will receive music scholarships. The students and their families, as well as the music scholarship donors and music faculty, are invited to attend an informal recognition and reception on Sept. 19.<\/p>\n

The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. in the Thompson Recital Hall in Bemidji State’s Bangsberg Fine Arts complex.<\/p>\n

The event will feature musicians Allison Laughlin on the piano and Josh May on the trumpet. Both Laughlin and May are the recipients of the Carl O. Thompson Music Scholarship. Thompson was hired by the University in 1937 and was instrumental in the construction of the Bemidji State music program.<\/p>\n
