The women’s studies and gender studies programs at Bemidji State University are recognizing March as Women’s History Month with a variety of activities on campus, including panels, open forums, artist meet-and-greets and film screenings.<\/p>\n

Women in Leadership Week<\/strong>
\nRunning March 3-6, this presentation series will feature a different woman each day talking about volunteer and career opportunities in Bemidji and beyond. The workshops will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Gathering Place at BSU’s American Indian Resource Center<\/a> and are open free to the public. Refreshments will be available.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, March 4<\/strong>
\nBemidji Mayor Rita Albrecht<\/i><\/a> (Twitter: @BemidjiRita<\/i><\/a>) will present a workshop on civic engagement.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, March 5<\/strong>
\nSarah LaBraaten<\/i><\/a>, local business owner, will discuss entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

Thursday, March 6<\/strong>
\nLocal social service consultants, MaryAnn Reitmeir<\/a>, professor emerita of social work at BSU, and Mary Thrash, adjunct faculty in social work at BSU, will present a workshop on community service.<\/p>\n

Stewardship Brown Bag Lunch Series<\/strong>
\nRunning March 17-20, this presentation series will feature a different woman each day discussing issues related to environmental stewardship, locally and globally. The workshops will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the lower Hobson Memorial Union’s Crying Wolf Room and are open free to the public. Refreshments will be available.<\/p>\n

Meet the Artists Lunch Series<\/strong>
\nRunning March 24-27, this series will feature a different woman artist sharing their work in writing, sculpture, painting, music, and photo and multimedia art. The workshops will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Hobson Memorial Union’s Terrace Lounge and are open free to the public. Refreshments will be available.<\/p>\n

The Meet the Artists series culminates with a 7 p.m. lecture and reception for author Elizabeth Cook-Lynn on March 27. Cook-Lynn also will hold a book signing on March 26 as part of the noon luncheon series.<\/p>\n

Women’s History Month Film Series<\/strong>
\nBSU is also holding free film screenings in Hagg-Sauer 100. Free popcorn will be available. All four films will begin at 7 p.m. on the scheduled date.<\/p>\n

\n• March 20: Living Downstream
\n• March 21: The Last Atomic Bomb<\/p>\n
