\"image009\"<\/a>• Dr. Mahmoud Al-Odeh<\/strong>, associate professor of technology, art and design (pictured, right), presented a research paper entitled “Strategies for Teaching Online and Hybrid Courses” at the 49th<\/sup> National Association for Workforce Improvement<\/i><\/a> conference Portland, Oregon, May 21-22.<\/p>\n

Al-Odeh also completed necessary training to become a Certified Quality Matters Master Reviewer<\/i><\/a>. Master reviewers ensure the rigor and consistency of the Quality Matters peer review process. They also manage the course-review process and coach peer reviewers to ensure helpful recommendations are provided to instructors for course improvements. He is one of 25 certified reviewers in MnSCU.<\/p>\n

• Andy Bartlett<\/strong>, associate director of communications and marketing, and Maryhelen Chadwick<\/strong>, communications and marketing specialist for BSU Alumni & Foundation, attended “Google Analytics for Higher Education,” Aug. 5-6 in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

• Dr. Porter Coggins<\/strong>, assistant professor of professional education, wrote a column “How Geometric Sequences Might Have Kept the Zombies Away” which appeared in the June 2014 edition of the Minnesota Council for Teachers of Mathematics’ Mathbits newsletter<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n

• Brad Folkestad<\/strong>, director of athletic media relations, attended the annual convention of the College Sports Information Directors of America, June 8-11 in Orlando, Fla.<\/p>\n

\"CSM<\/a>• Dr. Eric Forsyth<\/strong>, professor of human performance, sport and health, co-authored a chapter in Contemporary Sport Management (5th Edition)<\/i><\/a> entitled “Interscholastic Sports.” Contemporary Sport Management is written by Paul Pedersen and Lucie Thibault.<\/p>\n

Forsyth also achieved silver-level riding status with the Motorcycle Road Warrior Association<\/i><\/a> by logging more than 75,000 miles on his bike.<\/p>\n

• Dr. Troy Gilbertson<\/strong>, professor of criminal justice, was part of a cohort of MnSCU faculty, staff and administrators who graduated from the Luoma Leadership Development Academy<\/i><\/a> this summer. The academy is an 18-month leadership development program to promote effective leadership on MnSCU campuses.<\/p>\n

• Dr. Janice Haworth<\/strong>, associate professor of music, presented “The Civil Rights Movement and the Songs They Sang” to open the fall season of the Headwaters Center For Lifelong Learning presentation series in Park Rapids, Minn.<\/p>\n

• Dr. Colleen Livingston<\/strong>, professor of mathematics and computer science, received Quality Matters certification in August for her MATH 1100 course, Math Reasoning.<\/p>\n

• Dr. Michael Urban<\/strong>, associate professor of professional education, attended the Association of American Colleges and Universities’ 2014 Project Kaleidoscope Summer Leadership Institute for STEM Faculty<\/i><\/a>, July 25-30 in Crenstone, Colorado.<\/p>\n
