Fifty-five Bemidji State University students were officially welcomed into the Bemidji School of Nursing<\/a> during an induction ceremony on campus.<\/p>\n

The student nurses had their name tags ceremonially affixed to their lab coats during the scholarship and induction event, which officially marked their transition into the study of professional nursing.<\/p>\n

Upper-division nursing students welcomed their new classmates into the school by sharing some of their personal stories, relaying the moments they realized that nursing was the right major for them. [watch these stories on YouTube<\/i><\/a>]<\/p>\n

“Students will be welcomed into the socialization process that transitions them from basic studies into professional nursing,” said Dr. Jeanine Gangeness, founding dean of the Bemidji School of Nursing. “Nurses have the honor and responsibility to care for individuals during all phases of their lives, and bringing aspects of health, nursing, environment and people into each moment of their future practice is fundamental to the profession.”<\/p>\n

The induction ceremony was held Feb. 22 on campus, and included family and friends of the inductees.<\/p>\n
