Three dozen Bemidji State University students are members of this year’s Wind Ensemble, a performing group open to all BSU students.<\/p>\n
This year’s Wind Ensemble has 36 members, and 11 are non-music majors. In addition to regularly programmed campus concerts, the Wind Ensemble hosts the Northern Minnesota Honor Band, an annual band festival for many of Minnesota’s top high school musicians.<\/p>\n
The ensemble, directed by Scott Guidry, assistant professor of music, takes an annual band tour and has performed with numerous area high school music programs. Recent tours include performances in Winnipeg and Minneapolis.<\/p>\n
Throughout its history, BSU’s Wind Ensemble has worked with guest conductors including Dr. Wesley Broadnax, assistant director of bands at Michigan State University, and Mark Kelly, director emeritus of bands at Bowling Green State University.<\/p>\n
