<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\tAfter a year-long redesign and construction effort, Bemidji State University is unveiling its new Talley Gallery with an exhibition by local artist Jennifer Nelson.<\/p>\n
Nelson’s exhibit, “The Space Between,” opens on Jan. 28 and runs through Feb. 26. An artist reception will be held for Nelson beginning at 11 a.m. on Jan. 28.<\/p>\n
The exhibit will include a selection of drawings focused on storytelling and the creation of place through compositional space. Nelson’s work concentrates on a single moment in time in a narrative and features objects or characters of interest in an isolated space.<\/p>\n
“The openness causes one to become acutely aware space, and the things that are present take on greater meaning because of the isolation,” Nelson said. “The isolation and emptiness create a location that becomes tangible through the actions of the things that inhabit the space.”<\/p>\n
Jennifer Nelson received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Minnesota State University, Mankato and has a master of fine arts degree from the University of North Dakota. Currently a lecturer at the University of North Dakota, Nelson’s work can be seen in solo and group shows around the country.<\/p>\n
“A Space Between” and all activities at the Talley Gallery are supported by Bemidji State’s students through the Student Activity Feel Allocation Committee.<\/p>\n
About the Talley Gallery<\/strong>
\nLocated in Bridgeman Hall room 140 on the campus of Bemidji State University, the Talley Gallery is barrier-free and open at no charge to the public. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.<\/p>\n
