There, he studied advertising and marketing and worked on the student newspaper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He attended Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn. He spent seven years as a photographer and sports writer for the Bemidji Pioneer newspaper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In 2007, Gray returned to Nebraska and began working at the Fremont Tribune as a sports writer and photographer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He earned a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in public affairs and community service in from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Gray became assistant sports editor at the Fremont Tribune in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He has been an open league director for Fremont Nighthawks Baseball since 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Throughout the years, Gray has won numerous awards for his photography.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He won first place in the sports action photo category in 2006 in the Minnesota Associated Press News and Photo Contest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the Nebraska Associated Press News and Photo Contest, Gray won second place in the spot news photo category and third place in the photo essay category in 2007 and first place in the sports feature category in 2008.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Gray won third place in the feature photo category in 2008 and first place in the news photography category in 2013 in the Nebraska Press Association Better Newspaper Contest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Most recently, he earned honors in the regional Great Plains Associated Press News and Photo Contest. Gray took first place in the sports feature category in 2011 and third place in both the feature photo and general news photo categories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&ldquo;Tony has been a significant member of the Fremont Tribune&rsquo;s team of news professionals,&rdquo; said John DiMambro, publisher and advertising director. &ldquo;He has a solid vision of the marriage of print and digital formats in the ever-progressing multi-media industry, which will assuredly translate to notable effect for the Fremont Tribune.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&ldquo;His participatory nature and familiarity with the community will lend much to his new and important leadership role.&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">He and his wife, Trish, have two children.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tony Gray has been named as the new editor of the Fremont Tribune.
