For those unable to attend the live session, a replay of the presentation and copies of all handout materials from the session will be available by request from Kelly Knapp in Academic Affairs.<\/span><span class=\"s1\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The webinar explores practical information related to the safety, security and well-being of Muslim students and Muslim community members. Topics discussed as part of the webinar include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">How to create a safe space for Muslims to gather and dialogue<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Bringing in guest speakers to address the Muslim community&rsquo;s concerns about their safety<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Whether Islamophobia needs to be addressed at higher levels of the institution and what topics need to be discussed&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Whether police profiling is a problem&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">What educational steps might be taken<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Interfaith efforts<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Possible residence hall efforts<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Classrooms efforts that might be pursued<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In response to local as well as nationwide events that occurred late last fall, President Hanson and Provost Tadlock both reminded the campus community that &ldquo;any and all expressions of bigotry, racism or intolerance on our campuses and within our surrounding communities&hellip; are completely unacceptable and in conflict with the values of mutual respect, understanding and generosity that we espouse and promote.&rdquo;&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It is in this spirit that that all faculty and staff&nbsp;are encouraged&nbsp;to attend this webinar and help BSU think forward about how to fully embrace our goal of inclusive excellence.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All faculty and staff are invited to attend the webinar, Islamophobia,&nbsp;scheduled for Feb. 17 from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Beaux Arts Ballroom.
