• Dr. Katie Peterson<\/strong>, assistant professor of chemistry, presented a guest lecture on imaging oxidative stress at the Department of Chemistry, Geoscience and Physics at Edgewood College in Madison, Wis., on Feb. 15.<\/p>\n

• Linda Erceg<\/b><\/span>, adjunct instructor of nursing, received the American Camp Association’s Distinguished Service Award at the association’s national conference in Atlanta on Feb. 11. The Distinguished Service Award, the highest award given by the ACA, recognizes a person’s long-standing support of and contribution to the American Camp Association. Erceg was nominated for her contributions to improving the health of campers, staff and their camps.<\/span><\/p>\n

• Dr. Todd Frauenholtz<\/strong>, professor of mathematics, and 13 students in BSU’s STEM Scholars program volunteered at the Elevated Epicurean Experience (E Cubed) event at Bemidji’s Headwaters Science Center on Feb. 27. Frauenholtz and the students helped with setup, serving and cleanup at the center’s annual event.<\/p>\n

• Dr. Joann Fredrickson<\/strong>, professor of business administration, has received Quality Matters certification for her course, BUAD 3771 Financial Management. Quality Matters is a faculty-centered peer review process designed to certify the quality of online and blended-delivery courses. It is Fredrickson’s first course to be certified, and the 15th course at BSU to receive Quality Matters certification since 2013.<\/p>\n

• Margie Giauque<\/strong>, director of career services, has successfully completed the requirements to become a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. This certification will allow her to provide training on the StrengthsQuest system to managers, supervisors and staff. On Feb. 8, she presented to more than two dozen faculty and staff in the student support services area at St. Cloud State University about ways to use strengths when advising students.<\/p>\n

• Dr. Janice Haworth<\/strong>, professor of music, presented “Experiencing the Cultural Tradition of Indonesia through Shadow Puppetry and Music” Feb. 12 at the Minnesota Music Educators Association conference in Minneapolis. She presented with local retired music teacher Eve Sumsky.<\/b><\/p>\n

• Dr. Michael<\/a> Murray<\/a><\/b><\/span>, associate professor of economics and chair of environmental studies and economics, was recently named co-editor of the American Review of Political Economy<\/b><\/span><\/i><\/a>. <\/b>The review is a double blind, peer-reviewed, open-access online journal. Murray was asked to revive the journal after it had spent several years on hiatus.<\/span><\/p>\n
