A Skype conversation with Jamie Holt, who produced the video for Lady Gaga’s Academy Award-nominated single “’Til It Happens To You,” headlines Bemidji State University’s 2016 Headwaters Film Festival<\/i><\/a>, March 31-April 1.<\/p>\n

All Headwaters Film Festival activities will be held in the Main Theatre of BSU’s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex and are open to the public free of charge.<\/p>\n

The festival opens with the first of five screening sessions for entries into this year’s International Film Competition. Twenty-three student films from around the world will be screened in five thematic categories beginning at 1 p.m. Films have been submitted by student filmmakers from 11 countries, including Iran, Bulgaria, Singapore and Australia.<\/p>\n

Jamie Holt<\/i><\/a>, a production designer and producer who has worked on a number of short films and the feature-length “Miss You Already” and “Sea Horse,” will be joining the festival for a Skype conversation at 2 p.m. Holt will share her experiences and insights into filmmaking, and discuss her work on Catherine Hardwicke’s “’Til It Happens To You,” the music video for Lady Gaga’s Academy Award-nominated 2015 single of the same name (embedded below). The film follows four victims of campus sexual assault through their attacks, their survival and recovery, and their eventual activism for change. The session will include a screening of “’Til It Happens To You” and the trailer for “Miss You Already,” a 2015 feature film associate produced by Holt starring Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette before the Skype question-and-answer session.<\/p>\n
