{"id":26036,"date":"2016-10-31T12:22:55","date_gmt":"2016-10-31T17:22:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/news\/?p=26036"},"modified":"2016-11-02T12:25:35","modified_gmt":"2016-11-02T17:25:35","slug":"gallery-airc-hosts-2nd-annual-tribal-college-preview-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/news\/2016\/10\/31\/gallery-airc-hosts-2nd-annual-tribal-college-preview-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Gallery: AIRC Hosts 2nd Annual Tribal College Preview Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bemidji State University students who started their higher education journey at one of Minnesota&rsquo;s tribal colleges before transferring to BSU spoke&nbsp;about their experiences as part of the American Indian Resource Center&rsquo;s Tribal College Preview Day.<\/p>\n<p>BSU student participants included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Audrianna Goodwin, a senior with a triple major in political science, indigenous studies and Indian studies, transferred to BSU from Leech Lake Tribal College.<\/li>\n<li>Kyle Fairbanks, a junior math education major from Cass Lake, Minn., transferred to BSU from Red Lake Nation College.<\/li>\n<li>Alisha Smith, a senior majoring in social work from Remer, Minn., transferred to BSU from Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The panel presentation was&nbsp;part of a full day of activities held as part of the AIRC&rsquo;s 2nd Annual Tribal College Preview Day. Students participating in the event learned about peer advisors, parenting groups and the Council of Indian Students, and had&nbsp;opportunities to hear presentations from representatives from BSU&rsquo;s Office of Financial Aid, the Advising Success Center and Housing and Residence Life.
