During the month of March Bemidji State University joined millions around the world in taking preventative measures to combat the Coronavirus. But just a month earlier, 28 lucky students from Bemidji State University had an experience of a lifetime.<\/p>\n
Every three years BSU’s Department of Technology, Art and Design coordinates the opportunity for students in the program to attend Euroshop, the world’s largest retail trade show, in Düsseldorf, Germany. This year, Dr. Bonnie Higgins, TAD professor, and Mr. Mitch Blessing, assistant TAD professor, chaperoned the trip and even presented together at the show.<\/p>\n
Their presentation titled “Exhibit Design Education in the United States” detailed the TAD program’s success at preparing both American and international students for exhibition and event industries. The duo discussed the BSU TAD program’s curriculum, student outcomes, internship programs and international partnerships. They also shared success stories of international students with whom they reconnected with at the conference.<\/p>\n
“What is really cool is that students are able to witness design trends before they reach the U.S.,” Higgins said. “Students get a first-hand glance at upcoming trends.”<\/p>\n
While attending the show, students interact with professional designers in the field, lead exhibit design trends and cutting-edge event design. The group also met with numerous BSU Exhibit Design Alumni who have made homes across the United States, but continue to attend the conference.<\/p>\n
