Bemidji State University’s Honors Program will once again host a lecture series to showcase the expertise and research of BSU’s faculty.<\/p>\n
Dr. Season Ellison, assistant professor of history and Honors Program director, said the lecture series prompts students to think in interdisciplinary ways.<\/p>\n
“Gaining a broader view of the world beyond an individual’s specialties creates a greater ability to empathize with people who hold ideas that are different from our own,” Ellison said.<\/p>\n
The series is hosted by the Bemidji State Honors Council, an advisory group to the honors program composed of 12 faculty members representing each of the university’s colleges. Student representatives are also elected to the council by their cohorts for one-year terms.<\/p>\n
All presentations will be held virtually over Zoom and are open free to the public. Pre-registration is required.<\/p>\n

Feb. 24 – <\/b>Dr. Hilary Lowery, assistant professor of music; “Conjuring the Numinous in Music,” 6 p.m.<\/p>\n
April 1 – <\/b>Dr. Anna Carlson, assistant professor of environmental science, Jordan Lutz, sustainability project manager, and Andrew Miller, Minnesota GreenCorps member; “Building Community Resilience: Leveraging Nvivo Software to Manage Diverse Qualitative Data,” 6 p.m.<\/p>\n
