Three members of Bemidji State University’s communication studies program were recognized and elected to leadership posts at the National Communication Association Annual Convention in New Orleans on Nov. 17-20.<\/p>\n

Dr. Donna Pawlowski, department chair and professor of communication studies at BSU, presided over the NCA undergraduate college and university section business meeting. She also attended the NCA Legislative Assembly and presented on a panel titled, “<\/em>Where do Faculty Fit Now? A Shift from Known Spaces and Places to the Unknown<\/em>.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Pawlowski was joined at the convention by Dr. John Perlich, associate professor of communication studies. Perlich was named to the Lambda Pi Eta Faculty Advisory Board<\/a>, NCA’s student honor society. He serves as the advisor to BSU’s Alpha Chi Zeta student communication organization, was named Rookie Chapter of the Year<\/a> by the NCA in 2022.<\/p>\n

Senior communication studies student Cameron Burnap presented one of eight undergraduate papers selected by Lambda Pi Eta<\/a>. He was also one of only three students in the nation elected to the National Lambda Pi Eta Student Advisory Board.<\/p>\n

“This is first full year of the communication studies degree program,” Pawlowski said. “The student scholarship and national recognition exemplifies the caliber of students at BSU.”<\/p>\n
