(Oct. 13, 2011)<\/strong> &mdash; Steve Radley, a senior in music from Luverne, Minn., will guest conduct Bemidji State University&rsquo;s Symphonic Band during a joint concert with the Wind Ensemble.<\/p>\n<p>The concert will be held Sunday, Oct. 23, and begin at 3 p.m. in the Thompson Recital Hall in Bemidji State&rsquo;s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens. Students are admitted free with a valid ID.<\/p>\n<p>The Symphonic Band will be performing &ldquo;Washington Post March&rdquo; by John Philip Sousa, &ldquo;I Am&rdquo; by Andrew Boysen, Jr., &ldquo;St. Louis Blues&rdquo; and &ldquo;Fate of the Gods&rdquo; by Steven Reineke.<\/p>\n<p>The Wind Ensemble will be performing &ldquo;Overture to Candide&rdquo; by Leonard Bernstein and &ldquo;Handel in the Strand&rdquo; by Percy Grainger.<\/p>\n<p>The Wind Ensemble concert also will feature a performance of Gustav Holst&rsquo;s &ldquo;Second Suite in F.&rdquo; The Holst Second Suite is one of the staples of wind band literature; 2011 marks the 100th anniversary of its composition.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact the Department of Music at (218) 255-2915.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEMIDJI, Minn.
