John Latimer, a rural mail carrier and staff member at KAXE Radio in Grand Rapids, Minn., will visit Bemidji State University on Sept. 6 to discuss the cycles of natural activities in the Northwoods.<\/p>\n
Latimer is KAXE’s staff phenologist, studying nature’s cycles — when ice comes off the lake, when raspberries are ready to pick, when loons and monarch butterflies migrate.<\/p>\n
His presentation will be from 2-3:15 p.m. in Hagg-Sauer 100 on the BSU campus; it is open to the public free of charge.<\/p>\n
Latimer hosts a phenology show on KAXE radio, and shares stories, photos and video from his exploration of northern Minnesota at the station’s website. He will draw on this material for his presentation at BSU.<\/p>\n
