{"id":9750,"date":"2012-09-27T11:22:18","date_gmt":"2012-09-27T16:22:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bemidjistate.edu\/bsutoday\/?p=9750"},"modified":"2021-11-01T15:19:43","modified_gmt":"2021-11-01T20:19:43","slug":"traditional-skills-workshops-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/news\/2012\/09\/27\/traditional-skills-workshops-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Traditional Skills Workshops return Oct. 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bemidji State University&rsquo;s Traditional Skills Workshops, given by the university&rsquo;s Sustainability Office as a way to pass along skills such as food preservation and knitting, return for the fall on Oct. 2.<\/p>\n<p>This year&rsquo;s schedule begins with a pair of related workshops on food preservation, presented by Karen Gebhardt.<\/p>\n<p>The series kicks off Oct. 2 with &ldquo;Intro to Food Preservation,&rdquo; providing the basics for different types of preservation including canning, dehydrating and freezing. The workshop will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. at the American Indian Resource Center (AIRC), and is limited to 25 participants.<\/p>\n<p>The series continues Oct. 6 with a three-hour workshop on canning tomatoes, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the AIRC.
