The exhibition also will feature a workshop and gallery talk.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition, &ldquo;Minnesota Potters: Sharing the Fire,&rdquo; will exhibit the work of four of the best-known potters in Minnesota: Richard Bresnahan, Robert Briscoe, Linda Christianson and Warren McKenzie; and potters with whom those four have shared their knowledge and expertise: Guillermo Cuellar, Steven Lemke, Jason Trebs and Jil Franke.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit will celebrate the ways that knowledge, experience and spirit, and pottery as a tradition, are passed from person to person.&nbsp;The participating artists have been key contributors to Bemidji&rsquo;s annual &ldquo;It&rsquo;s Only Clay&rdquo; competition at the Bemidji Community Art Center. Briscoe was the show&rsquo;s first juror of selection, and will be selecting artists for this year&rsquo;s 10th anniversary show, which opens in November.<\/p>\n<p>A reception for &ldquo;Minnesota Potters&rdquo; will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Oct. 17, and will feature a gallery talk and documentary presentation by Briscoe. Following the reception, Briscoe will hold a ceramics workshop from 1-4 p.m. The reception and workshop are free and open to the public<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Minnesota Potters&rdquo; is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board through state legislative appropriation from Minnesota&rsquo;s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, and by a collaboration with Anoka-Ramsey Community College and the Northern Clay Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Talley Gallery exhibition is the third of four stops the exhibition has made on a traveling tour of Minnesota; the show ran in May and June at the Grand Marais Arts Colony, and in September at the Macrostie Art Center in Grand Rapids. The tour will end in Jan.-Feb., 2013, at the Paul Watkins Gallery in Winona.<\/p>\n<p>Located in room 212 of the Education Arts building on the campus of Bemidji State University, the Talley Gallery is barrier-free and open at no charge to the public.
