Welcome from Us to You 

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion serves as the primary authority of diversity, equity and inclusion at Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College. We are excited to welcome you to campus! As your Campus Diversity Officer, it is my hope that you find comfort and safety while studying, working, or visiting campus. Students, staff, faculty and visitors alike, our mission and vision are rooted in service to people and place, education, and equity. Through a unified effort, we take our place in fighting inequity, injustice, and hatred. We embrace our work as catalyst for transformative change, and we center those who have been dehumanized, marginalized, minoritized, and erased. We believe that the power of education is an essential tool for leading and engaging in much needed change. As a user of this space and time, we welcome each of you to find where you can make the greatest impact as a change-agent, and then, do it.   

As we plan for the future and live in the now at Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College, we aspire to lead the way in educating our region in the practice of inclusion, equity-mindedness, and injustice intolerance.    

2022-2023 Priorities   

Priority 1: Implementation of institutional climate survey for students and employees.  

Priority 2: Initiate Equity by Design practices that center racial inequities within the classroom.  

Priority 3: Manage a safe, welcoming, and affirming space for all stakeholders with emphasis on those who are underrepresented.
