It sets the base level for understanding regarding what an employee is expected to accomplish and sets the parameters for appropriate compensation.<\/p>\n<h2>Position Descriptions<\/h2>\n<p>All position descriptions should be reviewed annually, preferably at the time of the employee&rsquo;s performance evaluation. If the position description is up to date, indicate this on the evaluation form. If it is not, submit a revised position description with the evaluation so that Human Resources can maintain the proper documentation.<\/p>\n<p>At a minimum, a new position description must be provided (with the employee&rsquo;s and supervisor&rsquo;s signature) every three years.<\/p>\n<p>In addition a position description should be reviewed and\/or updated in the following situations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>based on organizational need<\/li>\n<li>when duties have changed significantly and\/or<\/li>\n<li>when the position becomes vacant<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When submitting position descriptions to Human Resources include both an electronic copy as well as a paper copy.<\/p>\n<h3>Reclassifications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/human-resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2023\/09\/Reclassifications-for-Classified-Employees.pdf\">Reclassifications for Classified Employees<\/a> &ndash; Reallocation\/Change in Allocation<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/human-resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2023\/09\/Request-for-Reclassification-Procedure.pdf\">Request for Reclassification Procedure<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Classified Positions<\/h3>\n<p>Classified positions include the AFSCME, MAPE, MMA, MNA, Commissioner&rsquo;s Plan and Managerial Plan bargaining units.<\/p>\n<h4>Writing a Classified Position Description<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Access the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/human-resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/99\/2023\/09\/Field-Definition-Position-Descriptions.pdf\">Classified Position Description<\/a> form.<\/li>\n<li>Definition of the different fields&nbsp;on the position description form.<\/li>\n<li>Review the current position description to determine what changes you need to make, if any.
