Add an anchor tag in WordPress

Use an Anchor Tag to link to content within a webpage.

Place an Anchor Tag
  1. Make sure you’re in the page editor to begin.
  2. Place your cursor in the editor where you want the anchor tag to be placed.
  3. Click the Anchor button in the Editor Toolbar.

  4. Give the anchor and name with only lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores.  For example: “bs-degree”
  5. Click OK to insert the anchor.
Linking to an Anchor
  1. Make sure you’re in the page editor to begin.
  2. Highlight the text you want to be the link text.
  3. Click the Insert/Edit Link button in the Editor Toolbar.

  4. Type a hashtag “#” followed by the name of the anchor exactly as you entered it in the Place and Anchor Tag steps above.  For example: “#bs-degree”
  5. Click Add Link to create the link.
