Moving iTunes Library Out of My Documents on Windows
Moving Your iTunes Library
- Navigate to your My Documents folder
- Right click and cut your iTunes folder
- Navigate to your user folder
- You can find a shortcut to this folder on your desktop
- i.e. C:\users\<your username>
- Alternatively, you can use any folder you want as long as it isn’t in your my documents folder
- Right click and paste your iTunes folder
Re-pointing iTunes to Use the Moved Library
- In iTunes, go to the menu button and click preferences
- Under the advanced tab, use the Change… button to select your new library location
- Navigate to where you pasted your iTunes library. Be sure to select the iTunes Media folder within your iTunes folder
