Moving iTunes Library Out of My Documents on Windows

Moving Your iTunes Library

  1. Navigate to your My Documents folder
  2. Right click and cut your iTunes folder
  3. Navigate to your user folder
    • You can find a shortcut to this folder on your desktop
    • i.e. C:\users\<your username>
    • Alternatively, you can use any folder you want as long as it isn’t in your my documents folder
  4. Right click and paste your iTunes folder

Re-pointing iTunes to Use the Moved Library

  1. In iTunes, go to the menu button and click preferences
  2. Under the advanced tab, use the Change… button to select your new library location
  3. Navigate to where you pasted your iTunes library. Be sure to select the iTunes Media folder within your iTunes folder
