Updating Chrome and Firefox

Running current versions of your favorite web browser is important for maintaining a secure computing environment.  Both Chrome and Firefox check for updates daily, the first time you use them.  The instructions below detail the process of checking your browser version and performing a manual update if necessary.

Firefox

With Firefox open select the Menu button, indicated below by the red arrow.  Select Help.

Select About Firefox.

The About Mozilla Firefox window details the browser version (74.0.1 in this case) and provides a button.  The wording on the button will vary depending on whether the browser can be updated or has been updated and is ready to be restarted.

Chrome

With Chrome open select the menu button, indicated below by the read arrow.  Select the Help menu.  Select About Google Chrome from the slide-out menu.

Chrome will switch to a settings view indicating the version (80.0.3987.163 in this case) and provides a button.  The wording on the button will vary depending on whether the browser can be updated, or has been updated and is ready to be relaunched.
