BSU or NTC employees will determine whether funding is applicable under the CARES Act or other University or College funds.<\/p>\n<p>Fully completing this application is required for consideration. CARES Act Special Circumstances Grants are a one-time grant with a maximum award of $500 per student. Funding from the CARES Act Special Circumstances Grant program may not be used for tuition or to pay a student\u2019s outstanding balance from regularly assessed charges for Summer or Fall 2020 academic terms.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Students Who Are Eligible for CARES Act Special Circumstances Grants:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Enrolled Bemidji State University or Northwest Technical College students as of Friday, March 6, 2020 (or afterwards depending on circumstances);<\/li>\n<li>Students who have filed \u2013 or who are<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200920021147\/https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fstudentaid.gov%2Funderstand-aid%2Feligibility%2Frequirements&amp;data=02%7C01%7CRachel.Munson%40bemidjistate.edu%7Cacb6ecff0f934fdc33fc08d81925e9f9%7C5011c7c60ab446ab9ef4fae74a921a7f%7C0%7C0%7C637286997916691115&amp;sdata=4hGDFnyW%2BtGacCr%2FJsMKo5o5Odh%2By%2BiQZTkzLzsEl5s%3D&amp;reserved=0\">eligible to file<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);\n<ul>\n<li>For more information regarding basic eligibility requirements for the FAFSA, please visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200920021147\/https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fstudentaid.gov%2Funderstand-aid%2Feligibility%2Frequirements&amp;data=02%7C01%7CRachel.Munson%40bemidjistate.edu%7Cacb6ecff0f934fdc33fc08d81925e9f9%7C5011c7c60ab446ab9ef4fae74a921a7f%7C0%7C0%7C637286997916701071&amp;sdata=sGr0Haa5%2FgSsufU0ar5Hv%2BQPhtVcfYtEe8%2BBkp0Ze9o%3D&amp;reserved=0\">HERE<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>For specific information regarding eligibility requirements to participate in the Title IV programs under Section 484 in the Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA) [20 USC 1091(a)], please visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200920021147\/https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fuscode.house.gov%2Fview.xhtml%3Freq%3Dgranuleid%3AUSC-prelim-title20-section1091%26num%3D0%26edition%3Dprelim&amp;data=02%7C01%7CRachel.Munson%40bemidjistate.edu%7Cf9b3e7dd88ab4e03a93608d81a0cde8a%7C5011c7c60ab446ab9ef4fae74a921a7f%7C0%7C0%7C637287989857368466&amp;sdata=HSZcM4CTHu4oQsJadcrv7%2BT02XeKF8RY%2BZV5TBTZeb4%3D&amp;reserved=0\">HERE<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Students who have or are experiencing a financial emergency as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Students Who Are Not Eligible for CARES Act Special Circumstances Grants:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Students who are not eligible to file a FAFSA;<\/li>\n<li>Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) or concurrent enrollment students;<\/li>\n<li>Students who are assessed senior citizen tuition rates;<\/li>\n<li>Students who are exclusively enrolled in non-credit classes;<\/li>\n<li>Students who were exclusively enrolled in online classes prior to Friday, March 6, 2020;<\/li>\n<li>Students who are incarcerated;<\/li>\n<li>Students (who are employees and not dependents) who have their tuition paid via employee waiver through Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a reminder, BSU students who are not eligible for CARES Act Special Circumstances Grants are eligible to receive emergency grants through the Random Acts of Kindness fund.
