Teaching First Year Experience

This page serves as the starting point for teaching and service faculty who are interested in instructing First Year Experience seminar.

Instructor Applications for Fall 2020 have been extended and will remain open through the month of January 2020. BSU will be offering 18 sections of FYE for fall 2020. Invitations to teach FYE are extended to all faculty associations with priority given to BSUFA members. Selection will be made January 2020.

Please review the First Year Experience Purpose and Student Learning Outcomes as these are common learning outcomes across FYE sections.

If you are interested in instructing a FYE seminar course for fall 2020 please complete the FYE Teaching Application Form and return to the Advising Success Center, Decker Hall 202, Box #44.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

  • FYE instructors are encouraged to be part of Beaver Family Time as part of New Student Orientation program the Friday prior to the start of classes. Beaver Family Time is organized by FYE and TRIO Orientation course enrollment. Beaver Family Time will take place on Friday, August 21 from 4:30 – 6:00pm.  Student Leaders are available to assist with these groups.  More information will be provided at the FYE Instructor Meeting later spring 2020. 
  • A FYE Instructors meeting will be held in April 2020 as well as during fall start-up to discuss specifics regarding the course and its involvement with the New Student Orientation program. Information regarding the date and time will be provided in February 2020.
