Guided by university’s shared fundamental values, CDEI provides trainings that are developed for students to learn about, experience, and reflect on diversity understanding. Aligning with the mission of the university, the division, and the Center, we provide two models of trainings to the campus community here at Bemidji State University.
- “Pride at BSU” Safe Zone Training
By attending this interactive Safe Zone training, participants will be able to have a foundational level of knowledge about the LGBTQ+ community, to know how to use inclusive language, to understand the importance of creating safe spaces, and to know how to advocate for the LGBTQ+ social justice and equality as an ally.
Safe Zone stickers will be distributed upon the completion of the course. The Safe Zone stickers could be put on the office doors for students to identify the safe space on campus easily.
- “Diversity is Beautiful”
By attending this interactive training, participants will be able to acknowledge the cultural differences, to identify the factors that influence individuals’ reactions with people who are demographically dissimilar from them, to learn about some methods to reduce prejudice and to prevent discrimination.
For assessment purpose, a satisfaction survey will be distributed to participants to collect feedback for future improvement.
Certificate of Completion will be issued to individuals who attend and complete the scheduled training.
