{"id":55,"date":"2014-08-18T22:49:45","date_gmt":"2014-08-18T22:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/services\/international\/?page_id=55"},"modified":"2022-08-22T13:29:14","modified_gmt":"2022-08-22T18:29:14","slug":"reduced-course-load","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/services\/international\/international-students\/resources\/reduced-course-load\/","title":{"rendered":"Reduced Course Load"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"intro\">There are limited, but very important, exceptions to the full course load of study requirements.<\/p>\n<p>In the situations described below, F-1 students are considered to be maintaining status even if they are not registered for a full course of study, and they continue to be eligible for F-1 benefits if they are otherwise eligible.<\/p>\n<h5>Exceptions<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Illness or Medical Conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Initial Difficulty with the English Language*<\/li>\n<li>Initial Difficulty with Reading Requirements*<\/li>\n<li>Unfamiliarity with American Teaching Methods*<\/li>\n<li>Improper Course Level Placement*<\/li>\n<li>To Complete Course of Study in Current Term<\/li>\n<li>Part Time Border Commuter Student<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*Only available in first semester at BSU.<\/p>\n<p>Reduced Course Load must be approved by the DSO prior to the occurrence.
