Fall 2019 New Student Orientation & Welcome Week will kick off Friday, August 23, 2019.
Friday, August 23
|9 am – 2 pm||Residence Hall Move-in
Find details for the move-in process here. Residence Hall students will receive their orientation name tags and schedules when they move in. Students living off campus can check in at Orientation Central in “Upper Deck” of Walnut Hall until 1:00p.m. and at the Chet Anderson Stadium from 1:00-2:30 p.m. before the Official Welcome.

Need directions, missing your name tag, have a question, or just want to say hi? Stop in to Orientation Central and get everything you need for the weekend. Parents, join us for air conditioning and refreshments.

Throughout the weekend and on Monday, visit the canopies along Birchmont Drive for directions, to get questions answered and for help finding Orientation and Welcome Week events.

Families and students, join us for refreshments and visit with faculty members who will be guiding students through their academic careers.

BSU President, Dr. Faith Hensrud welcomes our new enter class to campus. Wear your orientation name badge and pick up your class t-shirt. Immediately following the welcome students will meet their orientation leader and group to enjoy the rest of the weekend together.

Convocation is our official ceremony and an honored campus tradition that recognizes students’ academic start at Bemidji State. Take the first steps on the road to graduation.

Beavers are know to live in groups referred to as “families.” Now that you’ve been welcomed, enjoy time in your Beaver Family with you orientation leader and First-Year Experience instructors and learn the ins and outs of what to expect at orientation.
|6 pm||Welcome Picnic, Hobson Memorial Union (HMU), Lakeside Lawn
Orientation Groups will make their way to Lakeside Lawn for your first meal and an opportunity to spend some time with our university community.
|7:30 pm||Floor meetings, your residence hall
All students living on campus must attend these mandatory floor meetings to start their residential experience at BSU.
|7:30 pm||Off-Campus Student Social, Crying Wolf Room, Hobson Memorial Union (HMU)
If you won’t be living on campus this fall, gather and meet other off-campus students. Talk with our orientation leaders about how to connect to campus while commuting from home.

Saturday, August 24

Attend this important session covering student health, campus conduct policies, support services and staying safe and healthy throughout your college career.

Sunday, August 25
|9 am – 7pm||Ropes Course Day! Meet at designated location/time
Don’t miss the opportunity to bond with fellow residence hall students with the low-ropes course. Talk to your resident assistant about when and where to load the bus with your community.

||Walking Tours, Meet at Bucky’s Guide Service Booths
See the campus again through the eyes of a Bemidji State student–you! Meet orientation leaders and learn the ins and outs of navigating the campus. Bring your class schedule to help you remember the buildings you’ll be visiting on a daily basis when classes start Monday.
|11 am||Transfer Student Orientation Event, Bridgeman Hall 100
We hope you’ve been connecting with fellow transfer students throughout orientation weekend but this session will be an opportunity to discuss the unique needs of transfer students and meet some BSU staff who will help you make a successful academic transfer into Bemidji State. Lunch provided.

Stop in the first day of class and every Monday at the HMU Info Desk for some free popcorn and a list of “What’s Poppin'” in student activities for the week.

Show us your stuff at Open Mic Night or sing to your favorite tune with Karaoke! Sign up for a performance time upon arrival. Not a performer? Come out to cheer on your fellow talented Beavers.

Join us for the first of our weekly “Beaver Treats” series where you can enjoy a flavorful treat and meet a different student organization or department each Thursday. This week, check in with your orientation leaders and share any questions or concerns you’ve had after a few days of class under your belt.

Help Bemidji State celebrate and appreciate the Bemidji community. Businesses and community organizations will promote their services and offer giveaways. Come get to know our community!
