All of us writing consultants have experience writing at the university level and have taken a special course preparing us to provide peer support for writing.

Alassane “Jack” Ouattara is a 24 year old Economics major whose hometown is Abidjan, which is the largest city in Ivory Coast. His native language is French. His favorite sport is soccer and, his hobbies include watching television, playing video games, and engaging in outdoor activities.
Andrea Goodwin is a Senior majoring in Social Work and minoring in Leadership. This is her first semester working at the Writing Resource Center. She encourages you to please feel free to stop by and check out the Writing Resource Center, as she and the rest of our friendly staff are happy to assist you, including answering any questions you may have. Andrea enjoys helping others, and is passionate about writing. She hopes you all have an awesome semester, and college experience, and looks forward to seeing you at the Writing Resource Center.
Brian Hawkins has been a Bemidji resident since 1994. He was born abroad in Göttingen, Germany; while his father served as an intelligence officer in the Army. His father passed to him his passion for literature and writing early on. Introducing him to: Tolkien, Twain, and Lewis, as beloved childhood guides. He is a currently a junior, pursuing his degree in English Secondary Education. He is a father of 2 boys with his baby girl soon to be added in March. He is an avid fan of hockey, playing multiple nights a week himself. He hopes to bring to the writing resource center an open and welcoming personality, ultimately with the goal of helping others find their own passion for writing.
Brooklyn Bachmann is a freshman at BSU majoring in bus admin. with a proposed major in healthcare admin. She is #12 on the women’s basketball team at BSU.
Caitlin Herbert is a sophomore wildlife biology major. She enjoy reading, drawing, and spending time outdoors during her free time.
Carissa (Rissa) Bolles is a junior pursuing a BFA in Creative and Professional Writing. This is her first year working in the Writing Resource Center.
Jolynne Denman is the Graduate Assistant (G.A.) here at the Bemidji State Writing Resource Center. This is her second year working in the center. She is currently in her last year of her Master of Arts degree in English, and she has also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Coaching Certification in Cross Country and Track, as well from B.S.U.
Sarah Larson is one of the tutors you may see in the Writing Resource Center. She is a junior here at Bemidji State University, and is majoring in English Education. When she’s not on campus, She is probably either watching Netflix or finding a new place to explore around Bemidji.
Originally from Los Angeles, Wendy Grosskopf came to BSU in Fall 2016 by way of Rhode Island, where, at The University of Rhode Island, she received her Ph.D. in English with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition. She transitioned into her new role as Writing Center Director in Fall of 2017.
She, like the Directors who came before her, work with these key factors in mind: No one writes in isolation. We all need feedback to help make sure what we meant to say is what our readers will understand from what is on the page. At the Writing Resource Center we can provide that feedback at any point in your writing process.
The Writing Resource Center is eternally indebted to the former consultants and directors, who made this service an integral part of BSU life.
