No matter what course of study students pursue, the resources and services of the A.C. Clark Library play an important role in their education. The library's collections include well over one-quarter of a million books, subscriptions to more than 100,000 electronic and hardcopy periodicals, more than 130,000 government publications, and a variety of digital and audio visual materials, maps, and microforms. A part of MnPALS, Bemidji State’s library catalog provides comprehensive bibliographic access to library holdings throughout Minnesota. The library’s web page also provides access to a wide variety of electronic indexes, to abstract and full text resources, and to many electronic reference tools. In addition, as a member of the Minitex Library Network, the library provides access to off-campus resources through Minitex’s extensive interlibrary loan network. This wide knowledge base helps support all of BSU’s academic programs.

The library, however, is not only a place to obtain materials; it is also where students can learn to efficiently and effectively access, evaluate, and use information. The forms of information and the paths of access to it continue to change dramatically. It is therefore especially important for those who would be problem solvers in our society to be knowledgeable about and skilled in using information technologies, networks, and services.

The faculty and staff of the A.C. Clark Library strive to fulfill this educational mission. From the Reference Desk or other public service areas, and through workshops, guest instruction for classes and groups, and behind-the-scenes technical processing, their efforts are directed at supporting a very important element of each student’s education.
