Area VII - Global, Multicultural, Gender (GMG)

Minimum 12 Quarter Hours

Does not increase total Liberal Education credits. See notes below.

"GMG" encourages students to investigate ways of living and thinking which differ from their own. The areas of study are "Global" (cultures beyond the United States), "Multicultural" (religious and ethnic cultures within the United States), and "Gender" (issues). Knowledge of these areas enhances our understanding of and respect for cultural differences.

*Note: Liberal Education quarter hours used from Areas II, III, V, or VI to satisfy this requirement count for those areas and this one. Area VII does not increase total Liberal Education credits.

*Note: Non-Liberal Education courses listed below may be used to satisfy Area VII, BUT do not apply to the Liberal Education required 67 quarter hours accounted for in Areas I through VI.

*Note: Only ONE "GMG" Modern Language course (marked with an *) may be applied to the GMG requirement (110 or above for Ojibwe, Japanese, Chinese, 210 or above for all others).
