Spanish Major, B.S. (Teacher Licensure)

I.Required Courses (Core)

• 26 quarter hours of course work from Spanish courses numbered 300 or above (excluding Spanish 415) (26 credits)
• SPAN 415 Senior Seminar (4 credits)
• ED 317 Methods of Teaching Modern Languages (3 credits)

II.Required Electives

Spanish Minor, B.S. (Teacher Licensure)

• ED 317 Methods of Teaching Modern Languages (3 credits)

TOTAL QUARTER HOURS REQUIRED FOR MINOR: 23 CREDITS

All teaching majors or minors in Spanish must achieve a "good" or "superior" rating in 4 of the 7 competencies defined in the MLA "Qualifications for Secondary School Teachers of Modern Foreign Language," and at least a "minimal" rating in the remaining 3 competencies. The 4 competencies must include listening comprehension, speaking, and reading.
