English Major, B.S. (Teacher Licensure)

The ENGL 1001, ENGL 1002 College Writing sequence is the prerequisite for all English courses numbered 3000 and above.

Select 14 semester credits of electives from English courses at the 2000 level or above. At least 2 courses, totaling 6-8 credits, must be at the 3000 or 4000 level.

NOTE: No more than 4 semester credits total from ENGL 2010, ENGL 2020, ENGL 3010, or ENGL 3020 may count as electives toward the major; no more than 3 semester credits of ENGL 3510 may count as electives toward the major. However, additional semester credits from ENGL 2010, ENGL 2020, ENGL 3010, ENGL 3020, and ENGL 3510 may be used as general electives toward the degree.

The following is a list of required English Major, B.S. courses arranged by year. This schedule is intended to help students plan their courses in an orderly fashion; however, these are only suggestions and this schedule is flexible.

Note: With proper student planning and in consultation with the English academic advisor a student may complete his or her academic degree in 128 semester credits. It is possible, in some circumstances, that courses in a student's Liberal Education program may be used in his or her academic major.
