261 COMMUNITY FIRST AID (2 credits). Information necessary for the development of student's first aid knowledge, skill, and personal judgment along with guidelines needed to fulfill American Red Cross Community First Aid and Adult C.P.R. requirements.
301 THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF HEALTH (3 credits). Designed to expose prospective health professionals to the fundamental concepts, models, theories, and strategies pertaining to health education. Prerequisites: Pre- or Corequisite: BIOL 203 and BIOL 204.
303 NUTRITION (3 credits). Fundamentals of diet and food utilization, including discussion of health problems related to diet; current trends in food consumption and practice in evaluation of diets.
305 COMMUNITY HEALTH (3 credits). An introduction of public and community health with an analysis of contemporary communicable, chronic-degenerative and psychobiological diseases as they affect groups of people; study of epidemiological methods; human ecology and environmental health problems.
309 HEALTH AND THE CONSUMER (3 credits). A study of health care, products, and services in contemporary society as they relate to the consumer.
360 HEALTH EDUCATION IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (2 credits). An integrated approach to the content, objectives, curriculum, and methods of health education at the elementary school level.
361 EMERGENCY RESPONSE (3 credits). Principles of first aid in home, school and playground; prevention of accidents, and responsibilities involved in administering first aid. Red Cross Advanced Certificate may be earned.
381 HEALTH AND DRUG EDUCATION (4 credits). Study of health related issues in modern society as they relate to personal and community health. Particular emphasis on chemical abuse, chronic and degenerative disease, mental health, environmental health, family life, and safety. Basic principles of health, nutrition, and personal health.
408 HEALTH EDUCATION IN THE SECONDARY SCHOOL (3 credits). An analysis of instructional plans in health education at the secondary level; unit and lesson plan development; methods and materials for instruction.
410 PROGRAM PLANNING, PROMOTION, AND ADMINISTRATION (3 credits). An examination of the process of developing, promoting, and administrating specific health programs within both the school and non-school settings.
411 EPIDEMIOLOGY (3 credits). Designed to give the prospective health professional sufficient introductory knowledge of epidemiology and health statistics to critique the scientific and educational literature in health. Prerequisite: PSY 260 or consent of the instructor.
462 INSTRUCTORS COURSE IN FIRST AID (2 credits). Techniques of instruction in first aid. Approved by the American Red Cross. An American Red Cross Instructor's Certificate may be earned. Prerequisite: HLTH 361 or current advanced first aid certificate.
489 SEMINAR IN HEALTH (1 credit). An examination of literature in Health and discussion of applications to the school and community health settings. Discusses teaching and internship experiences. Prerequisite: Senior standing.
