Area II - Humanities

Minimum 15 Quarter Hours

A minimum of five courses must be taken from at least three program areas.

The humanities consider human values in relation to the history of human ideas, the languages of other cultures, literature, the expressive arts and the explanatory systems of philosophy. Knowledge of the humanities enlarges our understanding of the human experience and helps us communicate effectively, reason correctly, and think critically and independently. This knowledge helps sensitize us to human values, expand our world-perspective, and bring about a habit of careful and independent thought.

*Note: ONLY courses marked with an asterisk (*) may be used to satisfy Area VII GMG. Only one "GMG" Modern Language course (marked with an *) may be applied to the GMG requirement.
