TADT 2100 Impact Of Technology, Art & Design (3 credits)
Impact of AI & Technology explores the dynamic relationship between artificial intelligence, creativity, and human civilization, examining the social, cultural, environmental, and economic impacts of technology from the earliest tools of innovation to the transformative possibilities of AI in the 21st century. This interdisciplinary course defines and investigates critical concepts such as AI, technology, art, design, creativity, and innovation, inviting students to analyze how these ideas have shaped progress, human behavior, institutions, sustainability, and interactions across history. The course deepens students' understanding of how to uncover and interpret the development of technology and its implications for human progress (Goal Area 5). Further, the course challenges students to reflect on technological advancement's ethical dimensions and develop skills for engaging in the free exchange of ideas, addressing social justice, and exercising responsible citizenship (Goal Area 9). By integrating historical inquiry, ethical reasoning, and creative problem-solving, this course equips students to engage with AI and technology thoughtfully, envisioning a future grounded in sustainability, equity, and human well-being.
