ENGL 3200 AI, Ethics, and Writing Processes (3 credits)

This course explores the integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in human-centered writing processes, emphasizing rhetorical strategies, and discipline-specific applications, and Indigenous ethics. Engaging nonextractive, place- and people-specific ethical frameworks, including Indigenous data sovereignty, students learn to use AI ethically in their writing process within their own fields, as well as within other professional and civic communities. Through a portfolio of discipline-specific writing projects, students develop transferable skills in ethical AI collaboration that they can adapt across professional, academic, and community contexts while remaining accountable to Indigenous protocols and the communities their writing affects.
