Altru is excited to partner with Bemidji State University to offer an RN to BSN pathway designed specifically to support the growth and development of our nurses. Below you will find key program information and the criteria for Altru nurses interested in applying. If you had previously filled out the interest form you must fill out the formal application. Altru will work directly with BSU to pay tuition and 10 nurses will be selected for the first cohort (there will be future cohorts as well!)

Key Program Information

  • Built for the working RN
  • Finish your BSN in 2 years
  • 100% online
  • Eight-week courses focused on one class at a time
  • Asynchronous format—no required “in-class” times
  • No traditional hospital/acute care clinicals; instead, faculty-mentored, clinically based projects
  • No statistics math requirement
  • 100% direct billing from Altru to BSU for RN to BSN program credits

Criteria for Altru Nurses

  • Interested candidates must complete the Altru RN to BSN Application by December 24th
  • Maintain at least a 0.8 FTE while enrolled
  • Pass all classes with a “C” or better
  • Transcripts must be submitted upon completion of each course
  • Selection will be based on overall performance, committee involvement, contributions to unit initiatives, recognition from peers and patients, and examples of teamwork or going above and beyond
  • First cohort begins October 2026, with a second cohort beginning March 2027. Additional cohorts will be offered to ensure all interested nurses have an opportunity
  • Must meet Bemidji State University admission criteria
  • Commitment of 2 years of employment at Altru upon graduation at a 0.8 FTE or greater
