Endorsements are add-on licenses which expand your teaching credentials. We offer endorsements in the following areas.
Communication Arts & Literature Endorsement – Grades 5-8
The Communication Arts & Literature Endorsement is an optional add-on for education students. It can be added to any full license and results in licensure to teach Middle School English/Communication Arts (Grades 5-8).
The credits can be taken in addition to a student’s plan of study, spread throughout semesters as their schedule permits pending noted prerequisites.

Math Endorsement – Grades 5-8
The Math Endorsement, added onto an existing license, results in licensure to teach Middle School Math (Grades 5-8).
The Math Endorsement is optional for students earning a professional teaching license. The credits can be taken in addition to a student’s plan of study each semester as their schedule permits, pending noted prerequisites. The endorsement can be obtained after successful completion of all course requirements.

Pre-Primary Endorsement – Ages 3 – PreK
The PrePrimary Endorsement is an optional add-on for education students. It can be added to any existing full license and results in licensure to teach PrePrimary (Age 3 – PreK).
The credits can be taken in addition to a student’s plan of study, spread throughout semesters as their schedule permits pending noted prerequisites.

Science Endorsement – Grades 5-8
The Science Endorsement, added onto an existing license, results in a licensure to teach Middle School Science (Grades 5-8).
The Science Endorsement is optional for students earning a professional teaching license. The credits can be taken in addition to a student’s plan of study as their schedule permits, pending noted prerequisites. Students enrolled in education have the opportunity to enroll as a graduate student, however not all courses in the endorsement are offered at a graduate level. The endorsement can be obtained after successful completion of all course requirements.

Social Studies Endorsement – Grades 5-8
The Social Studies Endorsement, added onto an existing license, results in licensure to teach Middle School Social Studies (Grades 5-8).
Courses in the Social Studies content area are also required and students must consult with an advisor in the appropriate department and an advisor in the Professional Education Department to determine which courses meet the Minnesota State requirements. Some content courses may be transferred.

We encourage students interested in completing an endorsement to consult with their academic advisor. Credits can be taken in addition to your DLiTE plan of study each semester, as your schedule permits (and pending any noted prerequisites).
