Research Interests

My lab studies the regulation of gene silencing and heterochromatin formation by mobile genetic elements, growth, and metabolism in Drosophila melanogaster.  I also collaborate with Kathy Hendrickson of North Hennepin Community College’s Theatre Department on a Minnesota State-funded educational experiment called “Performance-Enhanced Biology” in which Biology and Theatre students from NHCC and BSU co-create interdisciplinary performance pieces.
