Bio
Dr. Patrick Riley is a retired BSU professor of musicology. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, after which he served as a warrant officer in the band master course at the Armed Forced School of Music. Following his armed services career, Dr. Riley received his Master of Arts degree in cello performance and pedagogy from the American University in Washington DC, and his PhD in musicology from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. Despite his retirement, Dr. Riley remains active in the Bemidji symphony orchestra, the Bemidji jazz quartet and teaching private cello, bass and composition, and teaching music history course as an adjunct professor.
