Dr. James Harding
Jim Harding has over 30 yeas experience in the field of forestry and natural resources management. Jim has taught classes at the University of Maine, the University of Montana, Union College (KY), Green Mountain College (VT), and Hocking College (OH) before coming to BSU in 2025. In addition, Jim has worked for the federal government (US Forest Service), a natural resource consulting firm (James W. Sewall Company), an industry non-profit organization (Ohio Forestry Association) and as a consulting forester in Vermont, Ohio, and now here in Minnesota.

Dr. Samantha Jones
Sam Jones is a physical geographer specializing in landscapes, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and dendroecology. She has worked in forest management and research with county, state, and federal agencies and continues to collaborate with natural resource partners on applied forestry topics. She has been a faculty member at BSU since 2014, where her research uses tree-ring science to investigate forest ecosystem dynamics.

Dr. William Sea
Bill Sea has conducted international research across the globe including ecological studies in South Africa and Australia. Bill’s contributions to the Forest Management program at BSU include teaching courses in Natural Resources Management and Soils. In addition, Bill’s research focuses on carbon uptake of forest plants and climate change.
Dr. Jeff Ueland
Jeff’s geography background includes quantitative methods and statistics, GIS, Machine Learning and most applicable to the Forest Management degree program at BSU—Drone Applications. GEOG 4285: Drone Applications is a required course in the Forest Management curriculum, recognizing the use of drones as cutting edge technology for collecting forest-based data.
