OPC to hold ski- and snowboard-waxing clinics, Nov. 20, 25

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University’s Outdoor Programming Center will hold a waxing clinics for cross country skis, alpine skis and snowboards in November. The cross-country ski-waxing clinic will be held Thursday, Nov. 20, while the alpine ski and snowboard-waxing clinic will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25.

The cross country ski-waxing clinic will be held from 7-9 p.m. at the OPC Boathouse in Bemidji’s Diamond Point Park. An instrucor will demonstrate proper waxing techniques for both skate skis and classical skis.

The ski and snowboard-waxing clinic will be held from 7-9 p.m., also at the OPC Boathouse. The alpine ski portion of the clinic will include metal edge sharpening.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment. They will learn to prepare the base, then how to hot wax and polish their skis.

“You get a ski shop quality tune-up,” said Mark Morrissey, OPC director. “You just learn to do it yourself.”
