Kayak safety course set for March 10

BEMIDJI, Minn. —  Bemidji State University’s Outdoor Program Center will hold a kayak safety course on Tuesday, March 10, in the swimming pool of the Gillett Recreation and Fitness Center on the Bemidji State campus.

The session will be held from 7-10 p.m.

The kayak safety course is necessary to rent a kayak from the Outdoor Programming Center. The course is aimed at those who have never kayaked before or who want basic safety instruction. Instructors will cover capsizing and self-rescue techniques.

Attendees should bring a swimsuit and towel, and nose plugs and goggles are recommended. The center will provide kayaks.

Pre-registration is required. The class costs $15 for students and $25 for others, and payment is required at registration.
