CRI announces activities for Oct. 14-19

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Oct. 1, 2009) — The Bemidji State University Center for Research and Innovation is sponsoring several events in October, including a Brown Bag Luncheon and a re-certification course for commercial vehicle inspectors.

Brown Bag Lucheon: “Green Marketing: What Does It Mean?”
Dr. David Smith, assistant professor of marketing at Bemidji State, will describe what green marketing is, how it works and some of the potential pitfalls businesses should avoid should they decide to make green part of their marketing strategy.

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009
Time: noon-1 p.m.
Location: Center for Research and Innovation; 3801 Bemidji Ave. N.
Admission: free; participants encouraged to bring a lunch

Commercial Vehicle Inspection Re-Certification
This mandatory course is designed to provide re-certification for commercial and/or self-truck inspectors already working as commercial vehicle inspectors. Individuals whose certification has expired must complete this re-certification course to renew within six months of expiration date. Participants are required to bring their current certification number and business address with them to class.

On-line course: “The Basics of a New Position: Job Analysis and Hiring”
Whether you need to create a new position or fill an existing one, this course will help you analyze your businesses needs and walk you through the entire process. Develop a job description, improve your job application, create an ad to post the position, create job-appropriate interview questions, form strategies to evaluate applications and learn about recruiting and hiring.

Date: Course begins Monday, Oct. 19, 2009; runs through Nov. 1.
