Nominations open for 2011 alumni association awards

BEMIDJI, Minn. (January 12, 2011) — The Bemidji State University Alumni Association is now seeking nominations for each of its alumni awards for the upcoming year.

Categories include Outstanding Alumni, Athletic Hall of Fame, Professional Education Hall of Fame and a new award, Young Alumni.

Outstanding Alumni
Initiated in 1972, outstanding Bemidji State graduates are selected by the Alumni Association’s board of directors from nominations submitted by alumni, faculty, staff and friends. The awards are presented at the Homecoming Alumni Honors Banquet.

Athletic Hall of Fame
Bemidji State recognizes alumni and former coaches for athletic achievements. Inductees are selected by a committee of alumni, athletic staff and other members of the Hall of Fame. Nominations are accepted from all interested persons, except family members of the nominees.

Professional Education Hall of Fame
The Professional Education Hall of Fame award is intended to honor BSU alumni who demonstrate excellence in teaching students or managing schools. Awards are made bi-annually.

Young Alumni
Initiated this year, Bemidji State graduates 35 years of age or younger who have had outstanding achievement in career, public service or volunteer activities are selected by the Association’s board of directors from nominations submitted by alumni, BSU faculty, staff and friends. The awards are presented at the Homecoming Alumni Honors Banquet.
