May 25 information sessions set for BSU nursing program at Lake Superior College

BEMIDJI, Minn. (May 13, 2011) — On Wednesday, May 25, faculty and Office of Admissions staff from Bemidji State University will offer a pair of information sessions on the campus of Lake Superior College in Duluth. The sessions are the first step for students interested in completing a four-year Bemidji State nursing degree on the Lake Superior campus.

The sessions will be held at noon and 4 p.m. in room S1981 on the first floor of the Lake Superior College campus, located at 2101 Trinity Road in Duluth.

The program will allow registered nurses to pursue bachelor’s degrees through a combination of on-campus and online courses. The program will offer full- and part-time enrollment options, with block scheduling on Fridays. Students will study at the Lake Superior College campus during the first two weeks of the program, then return twice during the semester while completing coursework online during alternate weeks. Clinical experiences will be arranged at a variety of sites, with the goal of having these sites as close to a student’s home as possible.

The program requires a minimum enrollment of 20 students and total enrollment will be capped at 40. Students interested in the program are highly encouraged to register quickly. Bemidji State launched a similar colocation nursing program last year on the campus of Anoka-Ramsey Community College, and the 40-student enrollment caps have been reached shortly after the initial information sessions and students have been turned away.

Bemidji State University and Lake Superior College are part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. The system comprises 32 institutions, including seven state universities and 25 two-year colleges and is the largest single provider of higher education in the state of Minnesota.
