BSU to Receive 25 Nursing Scholarships

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Nov. 18, 2011) — Twenty-five Bemidji State University nursing students will be awarded $1,000 scholarships from a Department of Labor grant.

The scholarships will be granted to students enrolled in the BSU RN-BS completion program.  This is a program BSU works in partnership with  Anoka Ramsey Community College (ARCC), who is part of the Healthcare Alliance in Minnesota.  The scholarships are being offered to students who attend school at the ARCC Cambridge site because the alliance is focused on growing the nursing workforce in east central Minnesota.

The Healthcare Alliance  was formed by Pine Technical College and is a partnership of area school districts, higher education, healthcare providers and the workforce development center system in Minnesota. Throughout its existence, the partners have built a vision for a strong, qualified workforce with opportunities for professional growth.

Scholarship money will go towards tuition for the spring 2012 semester.  Deadline for application submission has been extended to Dec. 7, 2011, at 4:30 p.m., with an additional fax option for submission of completed applications.  Submit applications to the Healthcare Alliance Office at Pine Technical College or fax applications to (320) 629-5110.
